Prof. Meir Heth
Meir Heth, born in 1932. Married to Rina of Zmirin family; father of three.
Studied at the Reali School in Haifa (1950 – 1939). Fulfilled his military service in the Nahal Brigade (1952 – 1950). Had a university education, which he acquired at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem: BA – Economics and International Relations (1958), M.JUR – Law (1960), Ph.D – Economics (1971); He holds a LL.M degree in Law from Harvard University.
Served as a research assistant and researcher (part time) at Falk Institute for Economic Research in Israel (1960 – 1955). Was practicing law in a law firm in Haifa (1962 – 1960). Filled many important positions in financial institutions: Bank of Israel – Research Department senior economist (1968 – 1962), Commissioner of Banks (1975 – 1969), Advisor to the Governor (1977 – 1975), Tel Aviv Stock Exchange Board Chairman (1986 – 1978); served as Bank Leumi Le-Israel Chairman (1988 – 1987), an economic advisor and director of companies. Prof. is a member of Law School in the College of Management.
His academic activities Included: outside teaching at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv University alternately in the faculties of Social Sciences, Law and Business Administration (1990 – 1962), in the subjects of Introduction to Economics, Banking in Israel, Financial Markets, Securities Law, and seminars on judicial monitoring of economic activity.
Holds several public positions: Executive Council member and Jerusalem Fund Investment Committee Chairman; Board of Trustees Chairman – Falk Institute for Economic Research in Israel, Jerusalem Branch Chairman and Israel Management Center board member; Ministry of Finance Government Companies Authority Classification Committee member; Finance Committee member at the Israel Museum; Internal Auditors Qualification Office Chairman; Jerusalem Business Development Center board member; Maccabi Museum board member; Public Corporations (Ministry of Justice) Council member; Council for Higher Education member.
